Part 1: Introduction

Well-being and mental health are basic elements of our overall health, productivity, and ability to cope with every obstacle we face every day. It’s essential that we know how to maintain ourselves in an optimal state, prevent mental illness, and improve our quality of life by focusing on the emotional and psychological aspects of our selves.

We can often manage our relationships and our personal time, but there is a particular aspect that brings a lot of stress into our lives – work.

We all need to work, and it’s important to understand how it can affect our well-being, how we can make our businesses or organizations better, why we should invest in this, and what methods we can use to feel better every day.

These skills will help you deal with stressful and upsetting situations. The Well-being and Mental Health in the Workplace – Part 1 course is an introduction to well-being and mental health. In the first part of the course, we will examine the theory behind concepts like mental health, well-being, stress, and more. We will understand what has an impact on these aspects and what matters in the workplace.

This section of the workshop will help participants:

• What your well-being and mental health is.
• Unpacking the importance of resilience.
• How to take care of your well-being.
• How to distinguish a toxic environment from a healthy one at work.
• How you can improve your Organisation.
• What are the signs of danger, stress, burnout, and mental illness?
• What to focus on to improve your workplace from a psychological perspective.
• Why companies should focus on supporting their team members with their mental and emotional well-being.

The course can be taken without any prior knowledge, as it covers all the basic concepts and introduces them in an easy-to-understand way. You will be able to start operating with these concepts right away, relate them to your experience, and begin an analysis of your workplace and the impact it has on the well-being of all employees.

The goal of this workshop is to provide a solid theoretical foundation to understand not only what well-being is and ground this concept with easy-to-follow examples and tools, but also to start making practical changes in your workplace to reduce the amount of stress and negative impact. It provides a justification for the importance of mental health and well-being interventions in the workplace.

This course provides a solid foundation for any future intervention in the area and gives you the tools to begin discussing and implementing changes in the workplace. Its goal is to provide knowledge that can be considered right away and that can be applied across different types of organizations. This can be used to begin talking about matters that were previously dismissed or confusing, making it clear and concise for maximum applicability. It can help improve well-being in the workplace, whether you are a manager, the owner, or an employee.

Part 2: Implementation

Fora long time the subject of well-being at work was not considered very important. Today, we know how important it is, not only for the sake of each employee, but for the productivity, results, and endurance of an organisation. Understanding what contributes and detracts from our emotional well-being and what an organisation and each individual working there can do to improve the situation is very important.

This course focuses on the specific tools you can use as a manager, CEO, business owner, or as an employee to improve your emotional well-being and the ways to construct a culture that supports healthy behaviors and interactions.

In thePositive Approach to Mental and Emotional Well-being in the Workplace Course© Part 1, we examined the theory behind what well-being is and the ways in which the workplace can affect it, both positively and negatively. We defined all our key concepts and encouraged reflection on how you can make a difference in the workplace. In thePositive Approach to Mental and Emotional Well-being in the Workplace Course© – Part 2, we will dive deeper into the practical side of things and consider specific tools and strategies that you can start using immediately. This is not a Mental Health First Aid Course, but rather a course that provides insight and strategies with the very important topics of Well-being and Mental Health.

We spend a big chunk of our lives at work, and the reality is that our workplaces are often not optimized for our well-being and happiness, and that, in turn, means that they are not truly optimized for productivity and sustainable growth either. A company is only as successful as each of its employees, so focusing on enhancing well-being can also lead to significant gains in productivity, creativity, innovation, the formation of stronger ties, and more.

For managers and employees, this course can offer some insight into how to tackle something as abstract as well-being in direct and actionable ways that are grounded in current research and are giving good results across the globe. With strong guidelines, dos and don’ts, the course has a clear goal – improving your well-being and the well-being of your employees to achieve a win-win scenario.
