This month I am running cohorts through our Proficient Speaker and Emcee Course, and early on I always ask the participants: What their main intention is for this training?
The responses are usually about:
✅ Building confidence for presentations
✅ Speaking more naturally
✅ Telling stories effectively
And guess what? The #1 response I hear time and time again is learning how to deal with nerves before and during a presentation.
It’s completely normal! Even after 12 years with Toastmasters International and leading hundreds of talks and trainings—virtually, in training rooms, and on stage—I still get nervous before presenting.
But here’s the thing: Nervousness is just energy. It reminds me that I care about connecting with my audience and delivering value.
That’s why, in my training, I teach The 12 Proficient Speaker Strategies, developed from my experience. One of the keys is:🔥 Key 3: Bring Yourself to Your BEST Self Before the Presentation 🔥
This includes practical techniques to channel nervous energy into confidence, clarity, and impact.
Here’s a short clip from that section—check it out! 🎥 👇
